Celebrities Rumoured To Be An Item | Pappy Kojo & Yvonne Nelson | Becca & Bisa Kdei | Kalybos & Ahoufe Patri | Deborah Vanessa & Joey B | Stonebwoy & MzVee | Berla Mundi & EL

The celebrity couple rumour mill is always churning. And it is common place for celebrities the world over to be seen as dating each other and the situation is not different in Ghana.

Thus some of our celebrities have been said to be ‘items’ and have something going on for them.

While some of them have come out openly to deny it, others have just kept mum over it.

Here are some of our celebs who are believed to be more than just friends.

Afro pop singer, Becca was said to be dating her long time manager Kiki Banson. They were said to be living together at some point in time.

However, the two denied it on several platforms that they do not have an intimate relationship. Becca parted ways with her manager about two years ago and is now under a new management.

Interestingly, Becca has once again been recently linked to highlife musician Bisa Kdei. It’s the rumour that just won’t go away! They have have been linked since last year. They have however denied being an item but have admitted being very good friends.

Pictures of them in rather intimate positions have gone viral but that has not moved either of them to accept that they are an item.

Although some people have opined that Bisa Kdei is not of Becca’s class, she has rubbished such claims saying he is of her class. Bisa Kdei also said in an interview with this paper recently  that he would marry Becca if she is a gift from God.

Model and musician Deborah Vanessa is said to be in a relationship with fellow musician, Joey B.

They have not commented on the issue making it difficult for one to draw any meaningful conclusion on the rumour.

One artiste who is very close to Joey B is Pappy Kojo and he is also in the same boat. He is rumoured to be in a relationship with actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson.

There was a picture of them cutting a cake together online but it was not clear what they occasion was. Pappy Kojo starred in an upcoming series produced by Yvonne Nelson.

Another celebrity couple who have been in the news are dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and MzVee but they have denied being anything more than friends.

While Stonebwoy has said that MzVee is a nice girl and he would not mind dating her while MzVee said that they are very good friends.

Berla Mundi of GHOne TV has not hidden her admiration for musician EL and news making rounds has it that they hooked up. None of them have commented on they bing loved-up.

Boys Kasa couple, Kalybos and Ahoufe Patri have had their fair share of the rumour mill which has it that they are real love partners off screen.

It seems that people may have assumed that they are dating in real life because they play a couple in Boys Kasa.

Kalybos has not commented on it but Ahoufe Patri has used every opportunity she has to deny there nothing amourous between them and that they are co-stars with unbelievable chemistry.

Also, actress Roselyn Ngissah has been linked with Kojo Rana of Rana fame. She said sometime ago said that Kojo is a nice guy and she would not mind dating him if he is ready to date her.

If Hip Life Is Dead, Then We Missed The Funeral – Reggie Rockstone To Blakk Rasta

Reginald Osei popularly known as Reggie Rockstone, the originator of Hiplife genre has replied a comment made by Reggae musician Blakk Rasta that, Ghanaian Dancehall will soon die like the genre he originated.

The former Hitz FM presenter speaking on Kessben FM’s in Kumasi said that, Ghanaian Dancehall will die soon because Ghanaian Dancehall artistes record their songs in “Patois”.

“What future does dancehall have? If you look at most of the big awards we won outside, we used reggae music not dancehall. Ghanaian dancehall is full of Jamaican culture and Patois, with such a song, what future does it has? The only thing which will give it future is for them to fuse African value with dancehall,” he said on the show.

According to him the genre in Ghana will die soon like Hiplife.

“Dancehall won’t go anywhere; it will just collapse just like hiplife. Hiplife was full of slangs when it started. Reggie Rockstone and others were slanging every day and I told them that it would get to a time people will be fed-up until Obrafour and Lord Kenya came in with Twi rap.”

Speaking with GhanaGist.Com, Reggie Rockstone said, Blakk Rasta wishes Hiplife was dead and even if it was dead then, Ghanaians missed the funeral.

“If hiplife is dead we missed the funeral lol! He wishes”, he said, continuing that, “As long as hip hop is not dead hiplife won’t die!”

According to know, Hiplife, “is a daughter of two strong parents! Highlife her father and hiphop her mother!”

“Dey [they] said dancehall Wud [would] die too! Same with hiphop! Both have not only become stronger but beautifully so! He knows not what he speaks of.”

‘Red Arrow’ Campaign To End Tuberculosis Launched By NGOs In Health In Ghana

The Greater Accra Branch of the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health has launched a Tuberculosis awareness initiative known as ‘The Red Arrow Campaign’.

The campaign seeks to create communication pieces and messages for a series of activities for different audiences intended to get everyone that is affected by TB to get help.

Preliminary studies in Ghana shows that there are 286 TB cases per every 100,000 people which is well above the WHO target of 92 cases in every 100,000 people.

This makes TB a major public health concern. Unfortunately, not enough attention has been given to the disease.

The Regional Chairman of the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health, Samuel Boateng Arthur speaking at the launch of the campaign at the British Council recalled how Ghana without much success had embarked on a number TB control programmes aimed at its eradication.

He said these measures had not been successful because of stigma and the unavailability of funds for testing and treatment of the disease.

He said eradicating TB is achievable but it would take a while and a lot of effort.

“In the past TB community’s focus was on managing and controlling TB. Today we join the Stop TB Partnership worldwide and at the country level to say we have expanded our ambition to Ending TB.

But before we get there, what can we do to prevent these unnecessary deaths from TB disease? There is the need for a paradigm shift and this is what the Red Arrow Unite to End TB campaign by the Coalition of NGOs in Health offers”.

Outline of the Red Arrow Campaign

  • To get key partners and stakeholders to sign and endorse the commitment banner to declare support for the ‘Unite To End TB campaign’.
  • Communicate Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) resolve to end TB in Ghana.
  • The TB ‘Somafour’ Encounters: Somafour in Local parlance literally means the TB Messenger or Emissary. The TB Somafour who himself was once infected with TB, suffered quite an ordeal till he chanced on treatment and support with the support of an NGO. He has been treated of TB and he is motivated by his tragic experience of living with TB disease and his breakthrough in accessing treatment to help others.

The Red Arrow, End TB media launch also brought together key actors from various sectors to outline the scope and deliverables under the 90-day campaign.

The campaign would seek to screen 1,000,000 (one million) people in the Greater Accra Region and to find and support 3,000 diagnosed TB cases to access treatment and attain cure.Samuel Boateng Arthur speaking at the Red Arrow Campaign Launch

Actress Vivian Achor’s Position As Ghana Actors’ Guild Vice President Nullified

Remaining executives of Ghana Actors Guild (GAG) have on Monday reached a unanimous decision to allegedly ‘nullify’ the position of actress Vivian Achor, the Vice President of the Guild.

The decision follows her continues absence from steering the affairs of the Guild as the next in command after President Eddie Coffie passed on last year.

Vivian is allegedly cooling off in the USA where she allegedly resides at the moment.
Her absence however had left things hanging in the Guild, hence the decision to declare her position null and void for someone else to take over.

After a heated executive meeting on Monday afternoon, nominations for the positions of the President, Vice President and the welfare officer have since been opened.

The positions were previously occupied by the late Rev. Eddie Coffie, Vivian Achor and the late Solomon Sampah respectively.

Members who are ready for positions are however being asked to pick forms at the Guild’s office at an undisclosed fee.
A source at the Actors Guild told Ghanareporter.com that “Vivian has been away for far too long. She was voted into power but the constitution also allows the other executives the mandate to replace her especially when she is not within the confines of Ghana.”

Vivian and the other executives were elected into office October 2014 and were eligible to stand for re-election after 4years.Vivian Achor

“I am seeing Thursday, Friday, Saturday –if I may say Thursday – because these evil people they are very funny. Anything can just happen. You will be very shocked to see what will happen, because when the prayer is going in this direction they [attackers] change to [another] direction.

“I see Thursday, Friday. Pray for these two nations – Nigeria and Ghana – over gathering in any way; over attack. I am seeing attack and that will be in a foreign way. The attack will come not in a local way. So please open your lips and pray for these two nations for protection” he told congregants.

Celebrity Column: “Down Today, Up Tomorrow” – By Peace Hyde | A Piece Of Peace

Hello and welcome to this week’s Piece of Peace, your weekly dose of motivation and inspiration. This week I would like to share with you on the topic, “Down Today, Up Tomorrow”.

I will keep my message as brief as possible today. I just want to encourage those of you reading this that are going through difficult situations at the moment. One thing is certain in life and that is no matter what happens, you will always have bad days and good days. Sometimes we may even get one of those extremely difficult days, which threaten to destroy everything we have worked so hard to build.

The real skill here is learning how to master those challenging days and turning the mess into positivity. We may sometimes feel like we are constantly facing a never-ending bombardment of issues but the truth is, our adversities are the things that help us develop the character we need to face tomorrows challenges. Every situation we face is equipping us with new knowledge and life experiences, which help mould our perception of the future, and how to best deal with problems that may arise.

It is never fun when things take a turn for the worst. Trust me I know. This week has been especially difficult. I had a project that I was working on for a number of years which fell through at the last minute. Everything seemed certain and ready for success and I honestly did not see how things collapsed. But I had to remind myself that the failure was making way for something much bigger and greater. Remember this when something unexpected happens to you next time. You are on a journey of greatness and that means that no one situation can determine your final outcome. You have everything it takes to change your personal circumstances.

All you need to do is believe in your abilities and never stop working hard. Like my mentor always says, “when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade”. There is a silver lining in every situation and your ability to recover quickly from setbacks is predominantly determined by your perspective on that situation. Remember whether you think you can or whether you think cannot, you are right on both counts.

Adopt a positive mind-set to the problems that come your way and you will find the negative things that happen to you will not linger for longer than it needs to and no matter what you do, always remember, be yourself because everyone else is taken.

Much Love,

Peace Hyde.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is inviting peace songs from its members from April 6 to 29 for consideration and inclusion in a peace album compilation of songs to herald the need for peaceful and credible elections in November 2016. The call for entries follows the Union’s selection by Star Ghana as one of its partner organizations for a campaign for peaceful and credible elections.

MUSIGA is among thirty five other civil society organizations selected by STAR- Ghana as implementing-partners working for peaceful and credible elections. According to the Union’s President Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, this is in furtherance of the Union’s support for peaceful elections in Ghana, a cause the Union has been very committed to, playing a key role in calling for peaceful elections during the last general elections. He said the best three songs selected by the committee will win cash prizes and be up for the VGMA Development Song of the Year.

In all a total fifteen songs will appear on the compilation which will include an All Star song which will feature some of the leading musicians of our time. The chairman of the song selection committee and 1st Vice President of the Union, Bessa Simons says the songs to be submitted should have a message on the need for peaceful and credible elections and should be well recorded.

The Union will hold a series of nationwide Peace Walks, fora and musical concerts from May to herald the need for violent free and credible elections under a program dubbed “Using Musical as A Tool for National Cohesion in Election 2016”. These activities will be supported by social media activations led by some of the leading musicians in Ghana.
