#NDCDecides: Miss Ghana 1997 & Ledzokuku MP Benita Okitey Duah retains parliamentary bid

The incumbent parliamentary candidate for the Ledzokuku Constituency Hon. Benita Sena Okity-Duah has secured a comprehensive victory in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries.

She polled 4161 votes while her closest contender who is the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ledzokuku-Krowor; Daniel Amartey Mensah had 2092 votes.

Gilbert Mensah Amarey polled 322 votes and former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku; Nii Nortey Duah had 109 votes.

In the presidential elections, 5315 voted yes to endorse Mahama as presidential candidate for the 2016 elections while 332 voted no.

In the build up to the polls, Gilbert Mensah Amartey, had accused the  Okiti-Duah and Mr Amartey Mensah of having used their positions in the party to influence the registration of non-party members.

These accusations came on the back of the destruction of the NDC’s voters’ register for the Ledzokuku constituency. He further called for the disqualification of his opponents in the parliamentary race.
