Dancehall is still ruling the industry!
Reggae and Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has been awarded 16th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The Ashaiman based artiste born Livingstone Etse Satekla saw off stiff competition from veteran Daddy Lumba, Guru, Edem, MzVee, Sarkodie, and Samini to his first big award in Ghana.
He also picked home the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year with Baafira featuring Sarkodie.
For winning the top award, he takes home GHc10,000 cash and a Samsung Galaxy S6 device which will be presented in a later date.
Rapper Sarkodie who did not show up at the awards won three awards; Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste of the Year, Best Collaboration and Vodafone Song of the Year with ‘Adonai’ Remix featuring Castro.
Ewe rapper Edem won Afropop Song of the Year, Best Music Video and Album of the Year.
The awards witnessed performances from No Tribe, Stonebwoy, Patoranking, Yemi Alade, Samini, Tinny, Tic Tac, Wiyaala and others.
